The Horizon Elite T5 joined the popular treadmill series in late 2017 as part of a revamp which saw improvements in the T7 and T9 as well. All three models have more features and capabilities than previous versions, with something for everyone regardless of fitness level.
The Elite T5 has a sleek new design, with a black deck, silver uprights and two-toned console with an 8.5" LCD display.
Let's take a look at some of the important specs...
The Elite T5 is the newest member of the lineup, introduced alongside the upgraded T7 and T9 towards the end of 2017 as part of the company's push towards high performance and results.
It looks like the T5 may replace the Adventure 5 model, but that remains to be seen.
Horizon has made a name for themselves for providing very high quality, well-built and well-designed treadmills at an affordable price. The T5 continues that tradition, giving you plenty of features and advanced technology at right around $1200 when it's on sale.
For starters you get the powerful Johnson Drive motor which is very quiet in spite of its power. You get the company's unique Variable Response Cushioning (you can see it above) which gives you three different zones of support, putting you in the ideal position throughout your workout and minimizing impact on your joints.
There are a very impressive 38 built in workout programs, so you have plenty to choose from. You can also ramp up to 15% incline with the touch of a button, which is great for challenging yourself and getting a more intense cardio workout.
As of this writing the company is including a free wireless heart rate monitor with each purchase of an Elite T5, which is great for getting more accurate readings, especially during heart rate specific programs.
The 8.5" LCD display is basic but functional, giving you 9 different workout metrics including incline, time, speed, heart rate, distance and calories, among others.
Two of the unique features on the T5 are ViaFit tracking, which keeps tabs on your workouts and can be integrated with fitness apps, and Passport connectivity, which syncs with your own TV to provide high def videos of various running trails that are synced to the speed of your workouts. (Note the Passport Player is sold separately)
Other features include foam grips, easy folding, built in speakers, workout fan, tablet rack and water bottle holder. The machine can accommodate up to 350 lbs. max weight, and gives you a very solid warranty.
The Horizon Elite T5 performed quite well during our reviews and is definitely a nice addition to the company's higher end performance line.
You get a strong, quiet motor, advanced cushioning, tons of workout programs, incline capability, tracking and high def immersive videos, as well as plenty of extras and comfort features for a very reasonable price.
One thing to note...if you are on the taller/larger side or plan to do a lot of running, you might be better off with the Elite T7 or T9, both of which have larger decks as well as more powerful motors. Take a look at those models as well.
If you're in the market for a very capable, well built treadmill with a little bit of everything at a great price, the Elite T5 is certainly a great choice.
